Advantages and disadvantages of portable oil purifiers

Advantages of portable oil purifiers

1. Flexible and maneuverable

- Small size: usually weighs between 50-150kg and occupies a small area

- Easy to move: equipped with universal wheels or skid-type base, can be pushed by one person

- Quick deployment: can be put into operation within 15-30 minutes after arriving at the site

2. Wide range of applicable scenarios

- On-site emergency treatment: rapid oil treatment in case of sudden transformer failure

- Operation in remote areas: suitable for places where fixed equipment is difficult to reach, such as mountainous areas and offshore platforms

- Maintenance of small equipment: maintenance of small oil-filled equipment such as distribution transformers and mutual inductors

3. Economic and practical

- Low purchase cost: the price is usually 1/5-1/3 of that of large equipment

- Low energy consumption: power is generally between 3- 15 kW

- Simple maintenance: daily maintenance operations, such as filter element replacement, are simple

4. Convenient operation

- Ready to use: Most models do not require complex debugging

- Human-machine friendly: simplified control panel, one-button operation of basic functions

- Strong adaptability: 220V/380V voltage is optional, and some models support generator power supply

Disadvantages of portable oil purifiers

1. Limited processing capacity

- Small flow rate: usually 50-200L/h, long processing time for large oil volume equipment

- Insufficient purification depth: limited effect on deep emulsified oil or severely aged oil

- Single function: Most models only have a basic filtering function and lack regeneration ability

2. Usage restrictions

- Weak continuous working ability: continuous operation time generally does not exceed 48 hours

- High environmental requirements: performance decreases in environments below -10℃ or above 40℃

- Great influence of oil temperature: the treatment effect of low-temperature and high-viscosity oil is significantly reduced

3. Technical limitations

- Low vacuum degree: usually ≤-0.095MPa (large equipment can reach -0.099MPa)

- Limited accuracy: filtration accuracy is generally 3-5μm (large equipment can reach 1μm)

- Low degree of automation: most lack online monitoring and automatic adjustment functions

4. Other shortcomings

- Loud noise: Compact design leads to noise of usually 65-75dB

- Incomplete accessories: often need to purchase additional connecting hoses, joints and other accessories

- Oil loss: The residual oil volume is more than that of the large equipment (about 2- 3 L)

Typical application suggestions

Recommended use scenarios:

- Temporary maintenance of transformers of 110kV and below

- Small-scale oil replenishment treatment of oil-immersed equipment

- Emergency equipment for power repair teams

- Daily maintenance of laboratories and small substations

Inapplicable scenarios:

- Deep treatment of large transformers above 500kV

- Regeneration of aged oil with acid value>0.5mgKOH/g

- Treatment of severely damp oil with water content>50ppm

- Centralized treatment stations that need to run continuously

When selecting, balance portability and processing capacity according to actual needs. For key equipment, it is recommended to use spare portable equipment as an emergency solution, and daily maintenance is still mainly based on fixed professional equipment.
