The oil purifiers (also called oil purification equipment) used in the chemical industry are used primarily to remove moisture, gas, impurities and degradation products from industrial oils such as lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, transformer oil, etc., to extend the life of the oil and ensure the normal operation of the equipment. The following are the common types of oil purifiers in the chemical industry and their characteristics:

1. Vacuum oil filter

- Principle: Heat the oil in a vacuum environment, evaporate the water and separate the gas, and then remove impurities through precision filtration.

- Applicable oils: transformer oil, turbine oil, lubricating oil, etc.

- Features:

- Efficient dehydration and degassing (water content can be reduced to ≤50ppm).

- Can remove tiny particles at the same time (filtration accuracy can reach 1-5μm).

- Commonly used in high-demand scenarios in the power and petrochemical industries.

2. Centrifugal oil purifier

- Principle: Use centrifugal force to separate water and solid impurities of different densities in the oil.

- Applicable oils: heavy oil with high water content, gear oil, etc.

- Features:

- No filter element is required, and the maintenance cost is low.

- Suitable for handling large amounts of contaminated oil, but the dehydration accuracy is not as good as that of a vacuum oil filter.

3. Plate and frame oil filter

- Principle: The oil is pressed through filter paper or filter cloth to absorb impurities and moisture.

- Applicable oils: lubricating oil and hydraulic oil with high viscosity.

- Features:

- Simple structure and low cost.

- Filter materials need to be replaced frequently, suitable for coarse filtration (accuracy 10-30μm).

4. Coalescing and separation oil purifier

- Principle: First, the water is gathered into large droplets through the coalescing filter element, and then completely separated through the separation filter element.

- Applicable oils: aviation fuel, light lubricating oil, etc.

- Features:

- Efficient removal of free water and emulsified water.

- Often used in combination with vacuum dehydration technology

5. Electrostatic oil purifier

- Principle: Use an electrostatic field to adsorb tiny particles such as colloids and oxides in oil.

- Applicable oil products: precision hydraulic oil, synthetic oil.

- Features:

- Can remove submicron particles (below 0.1μm).

- Suitable for treating oil productshttps://www.lubeoilrecycle.com/products/ with severe oxidation.

6. Adsorption oil purifier (such as diatomaceous earth, activated clay)

- Principle: Remove acid value, pigments, and oxides in oil through adsorbents (such as molecular sieves, activated carbon).

- Applicable oil products: regeneration of waste lubricating oil or deep purification.

- Features:

- Can reduce the acid value of oil products and improve color.

- The adsorption medium needs to be replaced regularly.

7. Online circulating oil purification system

- Principle: Integrated multi-stage filtration (such as magnetic filtration + precision filter element) to purify the oil in the equipment oil circuit in real time.

- Applicable scenarios: hydraulic systems, compressors and other key equipment in chemical production lines.

- Features:

- Continuous operation, reducing downtime.

- Customizable design (such as explosion-proof type for flammable environments).

Selection points

1. Oil type: viscosity, water content, pollution level (such as gear oil needs to be resistant to high temperatures, synthetic oil needs to be compatible with materials).

2. Purification goals: dehydration (vacuum/coalescing), impurity removal (centrifugal/static), regeneration (adsorption).

3. Flow and accuracy: select the processing capacity according to the oil consumption of the equipment (such as large equipment is required for more than 500L/min).

4. Explosion-proof requirements: Chemical flammable environments must comply with ATEX or IECEx standards.

Application scenarios in the chemical industry

- Compressor lubricant: remove moisture and carbon particles to prevent bearing wear.

- Reactor hydraulic system: maintain the cleanliness of hydraulic oil (NAS level 6 or below).

- Waste oil recovery: Regenerate waste lubricating oil to reduce disposal costs.
