Principle of Industrial Oil Filtration System

There are many types of industrial oil filtration equipment. According to different filtration principles, application scenarios and oil types, they can be mainly divided into the following categories:


Classification by filtration principle

(1) Mechanical filtration equipment

Filter element filter: This filter uses paper, metal mesh, fiber, and other filter materials and is suitable for lubricating oil, hydraulic oil, etc.

Bag filters are used for large-flow, low-precision filtration of fluids such as cutting fluid and quenching oil.

- Plate filter (plate and frame): suitable for high viscosity oil, such as gear oil, transformer oil.

(2) Adsorption filtration equipment

- Activated carbon filter: removes impurities, oxides and odors in oil.

- Diatomaceous earth filter: used for high precision filtration, such as turbine oil, insulating oil.

(3) Centrifugal filtration equipment

- Centrifuge: using centrifugal force to separate water and solid particles in oil, suitable for waste oil regeneration.

(4) Electrostatic filtration equipment

- Electrostatic oil purifier: It absorbs tiny particles through the electrostatic field and is suitable for high-precision oil purification.

(5) Vacuum filtration equipment

- Vacuum dehydrator: It removes water from oil through negative pressure evaporation and is suitable for transformer oil, turbine oil, etc.


Classification by oil application

(1) Lubricating oil filtration equipment

- It is suitable for engine oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, etc., such as filter elements and centrifugal oil purifiers.

(2) Fuel filtration equipment

- It is used for diesel and gasoline filtration, such as a fuel filter and a fuel purification system.

(3) Transformer oil filtration equipment

- It is used for insulating oil purification, such as vacuum oil filters and adsorption oil filters.

(4) Cutting fluid/emulsion filtration equipment

- Such as a magnetic separator and a bag filter, which are used for metalworking fluid purification.

(5) Waste oil regeneration equipment

- Such as centrifugal waste oil regeneration machine and distillation waste oil treatment system.


Classification by degree of automation

- Manual filter: requires manual replacement of the filter element or cleaning of impurities.

- Semi-automatic filter: with differential pressure alarm, prompting to replace filter material.

- Fully automatic self-cleaning filter, such as a backwash filter, scraper filter, can automatically discharge sewage.


Classification by filtration accuracy

- Coarse filtration (>10μm): such as a bag filter, a centrifugal filter.

- Medium precision filtration (1-10μm): such as a filter element filter.

- High precision filtration (<1μm): such as electrostatic filter, nanofiltration membrane equipment.


Special-purpose filtration equipment

- Online filtration system: integrated in a hydraulic or lubrication system for real-time purification.

- Mobile oil filter vehicle: portable equipment for on-site oil treatment.

- Coalescing separator: specially used for oil-water separation, such as fuel dehydrator.
