Transformer oil filtration equipment is mainly used to remove moisture, gas, impurities and particulate matter from oil to restore or improve the insulation performance and chemical stability of the oil. According to different functions and working principles, common transformer oil filtration equipment can be divided into the following categories:
- Principle: By heating the oil and separating moisture and gas in a vacuum environment, while filtering solid impurities.
- Features:
- Highly efficient dehydration and degassing (can handle trace moisture to ppm level).
- Suitable for deep purification of high-voltage transformer oil.
- Application: large power transformers, new oil treatment, or regeneration of severely degraded oil.
- Principle: The oil is pressurized by the pump to pass through the filter element or filter paper to intercept particulate matter and part of the water.
- Features:
- Simple structure and easy operation.
- Mainly remove mechanical impurities, with limited dehydration capacity.
- Application: daily maintenance, lightly contaminated oil treatment.
- Principle: Use centrifugal force to separate water and solid particles of different densities in the oil.
- Features:
- No filter element is required, suitable for oil with high impurity content.
- Weak treatment effect on tiny particles and dissolved water.
- Application:
Industrial transformers or oil containing a large amount of suspended impurities.
- Principle: First, the water is gathered into large droplets through the coalescing filter element, and then discharged through the separation layer.
- Features:
- Efficient dehydration (especially suitable for free water).
- Good treatment effect on emulsified water.
- Application: Transformer oil with high water content.
- Principle: Use adsorbents (such as silica gel, activated alumina) to remove acidic substances, colloids and polar compounds.
- Features:
- Can improve the acid value and dielectric loss value of oil.
- The adsorption material needs to be replaced regularly.
- Application: Restoration of chemical properties of aged oil.
- Principle: Use an electrostatic field to adsorb colloidal particles and tiny impurities in oil.
- Features:
- Effective for submicron particles.
- Need to be used with other equipment.
- Application: Precision purification of ultra-high voltage transformer oil.
- Principle: Integrated in the transformer oil circulation system, real-time filtering.
- Features:
- High degree of automation, no need to stop.
- Often combined with vacuum, pressure or adsorption technology.
- Application: Long-term operation and maintenance of key transformers.
- Features: Integrates multiple functions such as vacuum, pressure, adsorption, etc., suitable for complex working conditions.
- Example:
- Vacuum + pressure + adsorption combined treatment.
- Can dehydrate and remove impurities at the same time.
- Pollution type: moisture (select vacuum or coalescence), particles (select pressure or centrifugal), chemical aging (select adsorption).
- Oil volume scale: select centrifugal or vacuum for large flow, and select pressure for small scale.
- Voltage level: high voltage requires deep dehydration and degassing (vacuum + precision filtration).
- Regularly test oil quality (moisture, acid value, dielectric loss, etc.).
- The filter element/adsorbent needs to be replaced on time.
- Explosion-proof equipment is required for environments with high explosion-proof requirements.
According to specific needs (such as efficiency, cost, and pollution level), the above equipment can be used alone or in combination.
