Vacuum Oil Purifier Shutdown Procedures: Key Steps and Precautions

Learn how to properly shut down a vacuum oil purifier. Follow these essential steps to ensure safety, protect components, and extend equipment life.

Proper shutdown of a vacuum oil purifier is essential for equipment safety and long-term reliability. Incorrect procedures can damage heaters, vacuum pumps, or filters. Follow these three key stages for safe operation.

1. Pre-Shutdown Preparation

Before turning off the power, complete the following steps:

Confirm oil treatment is finished.

Make sure all oil has passed through the system and that levels in the storage tank are stable.

Cool down the heater.

Stop the heater, but allow oil circulation for 10–20 minutes to remove residual heat naturally.

⚠️ Never shut down when the heater is hot — it can cause dry-burning or fire risk.

Release the vacuum.

Open the vacuum breaker (charging) valve to balance pressure, then stop the vacuum pump once the gauge returns to zero. This prevents oil backflow into the system.

2. Shutdown Sequence

After preparation, shut down the equipment in this order:

Turn off heater power.

Stop the vacuum pump after confirming normal pressure.

Close oil inlet and outlet valves to isolate the purifier.

Stop the main oil pump.

Disconnect main power from the control board to prevent accidental startup.

Open the vacuum breaker valve again if needed.

Drain residual oil and water from filters, separators, and the base tank to avoid emulsification or corrosion.

3. Post-Shutdown Maintenance

Clean the equipment.

Wipe off oil stains and clean filter elements. replace if dirty or store them dry if not used soon.

Inspect all joints and valves for leaks or looseness.

Drain all pipes if the equipment will be stored or exposed to low temperatures.

Protect and store properly:

Close all valves, cover the purifier, and keep it in a dry, ventilated area.

Log operation data — record oil volume, working time, and any issues for future reference.

Safety Reminders

Follow the sequence: Cool → Release vacuum → Stop pump → Cut power.

Allow heater cooldown to prevent dry-boil damage.

Always release vacuum pressure before stopping the pump.

Drain completely to prevent oil aging or corrosion.

Following these steps keeps your vacuum oil purifier safe, clean, and ready for the next use—extending service life and reducing maintenance costs.
